Solar and Wind: Free Electricity
You can save Power in Your Home. Even better. You can let your meter run backward!
Many home owners are looking for ways to reduce their monthly power bill and turn to devices that generate solar power electricity.
This power can be used to drive any household gadget and appliance, be the TV, computer, lights or stove.
Solar power is most abundant at midday when a household’s electricity demand is generally the lowest. This surpus electrical power can be harnessed with a Battery system to store the power or a Grid Connected System that causes the electrical meter to run backwards when the solar generated electricity exceeds the household’s electricity consumption.

Solar or Wind Electricity? Each system has its pros and cons.
The Battery System can only store a limited amount of electricity. The system’s capacity depends on the number of batteries. It can reduce a home’s electricity bill considerably but is generally not strong enough to fully supply the needs of an entire household.
The Grid Connected System uses an inverter to convert the low voltage of the solar panels into AC voltage. When the converted power is connected to the mains it can drive the household appliances. If the solar panel generated power cannot supply the entire need of the household then the grid power supplies the balance. The meter runs in the normal direction but a lot slower.
If the panels generate more power than needed, as would be the case at mid day, the surplus power is fed into the grid. The meter would run backwards. This is a great system. When combined with supported with sensible usage of the house appliances the bill can be decimated.
Should you live in an area that does not get much sun you can either increase the number of soar panels or add a wind turbine. This may all sound very costly but it is not. The once off investment in a solar panel system with or without a wind turbine will be quickly offset with the savings in electricity bills.
When you build the system yourself it is very affordable. And it is not hard to do at all. There are excellent instructions available on the internet the explain the process of building a solar panel system and installing a wind turbine step by step. You will also learn where to buy the best components for the best price.
